We are incredibly excited to announce that we are in the very initial stages of planning for KinkyCon XIV, to take place November 12-14, 2021!
With that said, there are a lot of caveats, so take a moment to pause here and get SUPER EXCITED about the prospect of “life after COVID.” We’ll wait.
Now, read the rest of this announcement carefully…
We are hopeful that the pandemic will have shrunk back to the cave from whence it came by November, and we are cautiously proceeding with planning for our con this year. With that said, OUR NUMBER ONE PRIORITY IS EVERYONE'S HEALTH AND SAFETY, and we will pull the plug if we are not able to guarantee that.
We are currently working on reaching out to vendors and presenters to gauge interest and see who might want to join us for the weekend.
We don’t know yet what November will look like. We don’t know how many people we will be able to fit in the event space, and we won’t know until it gets closer. Our plan is to release tickets in batches, as the year unfolds. We don’t know exactly what this will look like, but we will let you know when we do. That’s a lot of “we don’t knows,” but the truth is, we don’t. This year will be different from last year, and we have to wait to see what it brings. We all need to be understanding and flexible.
KinkyCon will not be increasing prices at all this year. That includes ticket pricing and vendor booth pricing. We understand that last year was a difficult year for many, and we want you to be able to come out and enjoy socializing again without price being a limitation.
At our con wrap meeting in 2019, we had a ton of ideas for things to change, add, and make better for 2020. We have decided that 2021 is not the year to make drastic changes.
However, we are making one fairly significant change. There will be a slight increase in hotel room rates because we are moving to a THREE-NIGHT MINIMUM to stay at the host hotel (Fri/Sat/Sun). Anyone who was there until the end of Sunday in 2019 might recall that we had a rather unwanted group of Girl Scouts check in Sunday. We have had similar issues every year, but the youth of last years’ group really prompted us to make this change. This three-night minimum will not only provide us with a buffer from the vanilla-folk, but also enable us to offer programming later in the day. A standard room for three nights will cost $285 (+ tax).
Our cancellation policy will fall in line with the hotel’s. They have stated a preference to be informed of cancellations prior to September 21st. Therefore, we promise that if we need to cancel the con, we will do so 10-15 days prior to THAT in order to give you time to cancel your rooms. If we need to cancel, we will provide full refunds to all vendors and attendees.
There are a lot of things that we’ve discussed but don’t have answers to yet. We may need to require vaccinations for attendance. We also talked about contact tracing and what that means for our attendees' privacy. Again, we don’t have answers or firm decisions on these things yet, but we want you to know that we’re thinking about them.
If you have questions or concerns, please reach out to us and let us know. We’re happy to answer any questions you have. I will reiterate: your health and safety is our top priority, and the con will not happen if we can’t do it safely.
